Dalgety Bay Twitter Chat :  Promotion of Community Council Elections Poor says Tweeters  – Fife council to close  ACTIVE Dalgety Bay and Hillend Community Council

Following the story about seven active community councils in Fife failing to reform  please see dlvr.it/Qk2Ptd in the Courier the following tweets appeared. Names of those that have tweeted has been removed.   But here is part of the conversation…

“This is very worrying – community councils need proper funding, training for members, and most importantly meaningful powers! Too many people get frustrated and walk away.”

“I guess we need to figure out ways to get people more aware of these things as well. So much popularity around the Dalgety Bay and Hillend gala… There can’t seriously only be 8 people willing to stand for election to the community council.”

“Yup, the promotion of the recent call for nominations was very poor. I only knew about it because I’m a political geek! Would love to see more PTAs, residents associations, schools and colleges etc get involved”

Editorial note

We live in Dalgety Bay – the only election we knew about was the by-election, there was not a mention of a Community Council Election.  The Question is why are those in charge keeping the Community Council Elections a secret?

Dalgety Bay and Hillend Community Council is an active Community Council.  Why have the officers of the Council not talked to our Councillors about the issue?
