COVID-19 Positive Tests in Fife are going down, but some areas are on the UP!

For the week ending 14th February 2021 COVID-19 Positive Tests are down 8 in Fife on the previous week, that is 219 compared to 227.

Sadly some figures are increasing. For instance…

In our local area, North Queensferry and Inverkeithing West started out with just 3 positives but by the end of the week that increased to 6. This gives a Covid-19 rate for the end of the week of 0.19%. That is well below 1% of the population for the area.

Next is Rosyth East that starts and ends the week with 4 people giving a COVID-19 Rate for the population of 0.13%

Rosyth East is followed by Aberdour and Auchtertool starting the week on 5 positive tests dropping to 4 with a 0.11% Covid-19 positive test.

Finally, there is Crossgates and Halbeath with just 3 cases coming in at 0.08% of the population. Again these figures are less than 1% of the local population.

The good news is there are a lot of areas in this final category. That is those areas where no one has tested positive and includes those that have 1 to 2 positive test outcomes all merged into one group.

So here is the good news, here are the areas locally in 0-2 category.

Dalgety Bay Central
Dalgety Bay East
Dalgety Bay West and Hillend

Inverkeithing East
Rosyth North
Rosyth Central
Rosyth South

That contributes to a total of 72 almost positive free COVID-19 areas.

We still have a long way to go, but things may be moving in the right direction

Article via Donald McCorquodale, Project Co-ordinator on behalf of the developers DDR (UK) Ltd

When we last wrote to you via the Keithing in November 2020 about the proposed development of Prestonhill Quarry, we were in the very early stages of information gathering and planning.

Since then, we have listened to many comments from the community,

in both written and verbal format.

🟩 First and Second Public Consultation

♦️ The first public consultation took place on Thursday 21st January 2021 and,
♦️ the second public consultation on Thursday 18th February is close.

The latest version of the masterplan accompanies this article and is available on the updated Prestonhill website. It is also displayed on public notice boards at the east entry to Prestonhill.

🟩 We have listened...

You will see that the community’s ideas and suggestions have been listened to, acted upon and where possible, included in the new plan.

🟩 And we need your input…

That is to Review and Assess your Ideas or Proposals
We are still happy to review and assess any further community benefits that may come to our attention so if you would like us to consider your ideas or proposals, please use the contact facility on the website,

For the avoidance of doubt, it is worth
clarifying some misconceptions at this time.

1️⃣ Letham Hill Wood (LHW)

The purpose of including Letham Hill Wood (LHW) in the development application, is to protect LHW from any potential suitor who in future may attempt to utilise it for any other purpose other than that which nature has intended.

There is NO intention whatsoever to change the status of LHW and being part of this development helps protect the status quo.
2️⃣ Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay to remain two distinct entities

Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay will remain two distinct entities under this application. That is categorically assured.

3️⃣ The Coastal Path will NOT Disappear
The Coastal Path will NOT disappear, it will be enhanced and made more accessible for all. The planned new path to the north of the planned development will be accessible to everyone.

4️⃣ Infill of Quarry for community safety and in respect those that have died at the quarry and their families.
We make no apology for including the infill of the Quarry as part of our planned application. The safety of the community going forward is not negotiable and the distress caused to the families who have suffered in the past deserves to be respected.

If filling in the Quarry prevents just one more accident, then it will be well worth the endeavour.
