Here is the weather for Saturday
Caution
Temperatures at the start of the day -4C but this will become warmer as the evening comes closer reaching 5C before midnight and dropping to 4C overnight. But there may be still some ice around and as a result of a thaw on some roads, and there may well be some minor floods.
Therefore, beware of ice and floods on your travels. Do take care while out and about today and tonight when walking or driving. There is a small risk of rain today, that is 51% this evening before midnight.
Because of the challenges facing snowfall forecasts, these showers could be rain, sleet or snow or a combination of those just mentioned. Therefore, plan for snow/rain mist and frost overnight if you need to travel on Sunday. Please do expect some icy patches under any packed snow that may be lying on the ground.
Summary and temperature:
Mostly Cloudy, with Rain tonight
Temp: Starts at 25 °F (-4 °C) With a high of 41 °F (5 °C) and a low overnight of 39 °F (4 °C)
Morning
Cloudy with some sunny intervals and a low-risk of showers. Snow on hills
Afternoon
The cloud continues to fill the sky. As a result, there is a very small risk of surprise rain showers until tea-time.
Evening
A cloudy evening, some light rain just before mid-evening until the midnight hour. Risk of frost and ice (especially on untreated areas) in the evening and overnight. Temperatures increase to 4c. Therefore, beware of minor floods after a thaw and any unseen ice still about tonight and overnight.
Wind: Westerly, but mainly West South Westerly until midnight
Speed: 9-(13)-(14)-(10) mph
Gusts: Start at 24 mph, and increase to 26 mph just before mid-afternoon and increases to 28 mph by teatime. Then decreases to 20 mph near that midnight hour.
Risks:
Of light rain tonight. Perhaps some sleet with any rain.
The remains of ice (possibly hiding under packed snow) on roads and pavement particularly tonight, and possibly Sunday morning. A high risk for essential workers in addition to COVID-19. Take it nice and easy when going to work.
Time for me to log-off:
I hope you have a super Saturday, ideally at home. Do phone and Facetime people and play games and sing. But if you are using Facetime or Zoom while singing mute your friends as there is a lag in the sound. Don’t forget to put the sound back on after your Facetime communal singing!
The birds are flying about quickly to keep themselves warm. Brrrrrr… it is currently -3 °C outside!
